THE FAMILY TREE
One of my favorite things to do on a quiet day is to look at old family photos - they honestly don't even have to be my family photos. I love seeing the world as it was: the clothing styles, the expressions, the parties, the cars, the houses, the pets. All of it. I hope that one day my family portraits will find its way into the hands of someone who appreciates the window into the past as much as I have looking at old black and white prints.
For today's world, I really love capturing family moments. These moments are the most fleeting. Children grow up fast, parents age. This world that we know and love should be celebrated and remembered. Photography is my way of doing that.
I love photographing families of all sizes. I absolutely love capturing young families. To me these are some pivotal moments to photograph your kids: when they are just born, when they are a year old, when they are under five, then sometime before 10 years old, and then one or two more times before they graduate from high school. Within each of these moments are some milestones, like the birth a the first born of the next generation, a toddler's smile before they lose their baby teeth and capturing their wild abandon, then the moments before they turn into a teenager, and then of course capturing the family you've created before your kids leave for their own life adventure.
I also love photographing families that have traveled to the Sonoma Coast for mini-reunions, as well as families that are celebrating their parent's milestone birthday, or grandparents that really want to celebrate their grand-babies. Whatever milestone it is, I love photographing the spirit of your family tree.
